Privacy Policy

Senior Fitness Lab provides free exercise information, downloadable resources and details of the Steady & Strong books. This policy explains what information is processed when you visit the site, join the newsletter or contact us.

Last updated: 31 August 2026

The short version

  • You can read the site without creating an account, making a payment or actively providing your name or email address.
  • Basic technical information is processed when pages and embedded services load, as it is on most websites.
  • IONOS hosts the WordPress website. Cloudflare helps deliver pages faster and protects the site from malicious traffic.
  • Google Analytics uses regional consent settings. In the UK, European Economic Area and Switzerland, Analytics cookies are disabled until consent, although Google may receive limited cookieless measurement signals. In the United States and other regions, Analytics may begin when the page loads; preferences can be changed at any time.
  • Jetpack provides additional aggregate page-view statistics. We do not use advertising or social-media tracking pixels.
  • The newsletter is optional and is managed through EmailOctopus. You can unsubscribe from every email.
  • We do not sell personal information and the Amazon links on this site are not affiliate links.

Who is responsible for your information?

Senior Fitness Lab is operated in the United Kingdom by M.T. Groom. For data-protection purposes, M.T. Groom is the controller of personal information collected directly through this website and newsletter.

Contact: [email protected].

What happens when you visit the website?

You do not need an account and we do not take payments on this website. When your browser requests a page, basic technical information is processed so the page can be delivered securely. This can include your IP address, the requested page, date and time, browser and device information, referring page, and diagnostic or security information.

IONOS and Cloudflare

IONOS hosts the WordPress website and its server infrastructure. Cloudflare provides domain-name services, security and content-delivery services. In practical terms, Cloudflare can cache and serve copies of site files from locations closer to visitors, which helps pages load faster, and it filters suspicious or malicious requests before they reach the web server.

We use this technical processing to operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the website. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in providing a reliable and secure service.

Analytics and audience measurement

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 through Google Site Kit to understand which pages are read and how visitors find and use the site. We use this information to improve our articles and resources. We do not use Google Analytics for personalised advertising.

The site currently uses Google’s advanced consent mode with regional settings. For visitors in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area and Switzerland, Analytics storage defaults to denied and Google Analytics cookies are not set unless the visitor consents. Before consent, Google’s tag may still send a limited cookieless measurement signal. This can include the page URL and title, consent state, approximate location derived from the network connection, and browser or device information. Google receives the IP address needed to deliver the request, although Google says consent-mode pings are handled without reading or writing Analytics cookies.

For visitors in the United States and other regions where prior consent is not configured, Google Analytics may begin when the page loads and may use Analytics cookies. Visitors can reject or change Analytics preferences at any time using the cookie-preferences control on the site.

Jetpack statistics

We also use Jetpack/WordPress.com statistics to produce aggregate page-view information. Jetpack receives technical request information needed to count visits and show us reports such as popular pages and referring sources. We do not use Jetpack statistics to build advertising profiles.

For proportionate audience measurement that does not require prior consent in the visitor’s region, and for measurement that does not rely on optional cookies, we rely on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the website. Where prior consent is required for Analytics cookies or similar optional storage, we rely on consent.

Provider information: Google privacy policy and Automattic privacy policy.

Cookies and consent choices

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. The consent banner lets you accept, reject or change optional-cookie choices. A necessary preference cookie remembers that choice. Rejecting optional Analytics cookies does not stop you using the site.

Newsletter and free downloads

If you choose to join the newsletter or request the free guides by email, we collect the information you submit, normally your email address and, where provided, your name. Our email provider, EmailOctopus, also records the signup date and time, consent information and technical information such as an IP address.

EmailOctopus’s embedded form code loads on pages where the signup form appears. As a result, EmailOctopus may receive basic technical request and browser information even if you do not submit the form.

We use double opt-in: after you sign up, we send an email asking you to confirm your address. You are only added to the list once you confirm.

We use EmailOctopus to store subscriber records and send emails. EmailOctopus can report deliveries, opens and link clicks. Open reporting may use a small tracking image, while tracked links can pass through EmailOctopus before reaching their destination. These reports help us understand whether emails are being delivered and which subjects readers find useful. They are not used for third-party advertising.

Our lawful basis for sending marketing email is your consent. You can withdraw that consent by using the unsubscribe link in any email. When you unsubscribe, EmailOctopus keeps a suppression record so that we do not accidentally email you again. You may ask us to erase your subscriber data, subject to any information we need to retain to honour your opt-out or meet legal obligations.

In October 2026 we moved our existing subscriber list from MailerLite to EmailOctopus. MailerLite no longer receives new signups, and we will delete the old list from MailerLite once the move is complete.

EmailOctopus is a UK company based in London. Provider information: EmailOctopus privacy policy.

Emails and other direct contact

If you contact us, we process the information you include so that we can read, respond to and keep an appropriate record of the conversation. Please do not send medical records or other sensitive health information. Senior Fitness Lab provides general information and does not provide individual diagnosis or treatment by email.

We rely on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and managing the website. We keep correspondence only for as long as reasonably needed for the enquiry, record-keeping, security or legal purposes.

External links, Amazon and downloads

The site links to Amazon, the App Store and other external websites. When you follow an external link, the destination receives the information normally sent by your browser, which can include your IP address, browser information, the page requested and sometimes the referring page. The destination’s privacy policy then applies.

Senior Fitness Lab does not process Amazon or App Store purchases, payment information, delivery addresses or account details. The Amazon links on this site are not affiliate links and we do not receive Amazon affiliate tracking data.

When you download a file directly from Senior Fitness Lab, the hosting and security systems process the same basic technical information needed to deliver any other site file.

Service providers and international processing

We use a small number of providers to operate the site:

  • IONOS — WordPress hosting and server infrastructure.
  • Cloudflare — DNS, security, caching and content delivery.
  • Google — Analytics.
  • Automattic/Jetpack — aggregate website statistics and WordPress services.
  • EmailOctopus — newsletter forms, subscriber records and email delivery.
  • CookieYes — cookie-preference controls.

Some providers operate internationally and may process technical or support data in the United States or other countries. EmailOctopus is based in the UK. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we rely on the safeguards used by the relevant provider, such as adequacy arrangements, the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or approved contractual clauses, where applicable.

How long information is kept
InformationHow long it is kept
Cookie preferenceNormally 1 year, unless you clear browser storage or the consent configuration changes.
Google Analytics informationAccording to the retention setting in the Analytics property and Google’s service rules. Aggregated reports may remain after underlying event-level information expires.
Newsletter subscriber recordWhile you are subscribed. After unsubscribe, a suppression record is retained to prevent further mailings unless it can lawfully and safely be erased.
Contact correspondenceFor as long as reasonably needed to answer the enquiry and maintain appropriate operational or legal records.
Server, CDN and security informationFor as long as reasonably needed for security, troubleshooting and service operation, subject to IONOS and Cloudflare’s operational retention schedules.

We review information periodically and delete or anonymise it when it is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected, unless a longer period is required by law or needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and the circumstances, you may have rights to ask for access to personal information, correction, erasure, restriction, portability or an objection to certain processing. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent without affecting processing that took place beforehand.

Analytics information is not normally linked to your name or email address, so we may be unable to identify a particular visit as belonging to you. If you provide a relevant browser or Analytics identifier, we will assess whether associated information can be located and deleted.

To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need enough information to verify your identity and understand the request. We normally respond within one month, although data-protection law allows more time in some circumstances.

If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office: make a complaint to the ICO.

Children, health information and changes to this policy

Senior Fitness Lab is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through the website.

The site discusses exercise and health, but simply reading an article does not tell us about an identified person’s health. Please do not send medical records or detailed health information through newsletter forms or ordinary email.

We may update this policy when the site, providers or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Material changes will be explained on this page or through another appropriate notice.
